I love night time James! He's the best and best customer service. Definitely best service at a hotel I've ever had.. Some rooms are better then others.. try asking for James and to stay on the 3rd floor if at all possible.

I've stayed here off and on for the last 3 years and decided to finally leave a review. First the staff is very friendly and accommodating and the manager James is outstanding in regards to taking care of things. The night staff is also very proficient and professional. My rooms have always been very clean especially bedding and towels Contrary to some things I've read about cleanliness I've never had a problem and I'm very picky. There are also many places to eat a bar next door and pot shop within walking distance. This Red Lion is not corporate and much better than I would expect out of a franchise owner. I travel extensively and can tell you one good sigh of a good franchise is whether the owner is present which Mike the owner is often around to make sure his property is run right, that shows he takes pride in his establishment. So I would definitely recommend this Red Lion Des Moines whenever you are in the greater Seattle area. I should also mention you are very close to a main bus line that can take you to the light rail or airport in a matter of minutes. Downtown Seattle in less than a hour by bus light rail or car.

Rooms were well taken care of and clean, the mattress was very comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. A little too close to some bars and the airport but it did not cause any issues in getting a good nights sleep.

I stayed about a week at Red Lion Hotel Seattle Airport, which is long enough to really get to know a place and let me tell you, this one has character. First things first: the rooms were clean. That’s my non-negotiable, and they passed. The decor is definitely on the “vintage but not intentionally vintage” side, but everything worked. There’s a microwave and refrigerator in the room (huge win), but no coffee maker. They do provide fresh coffee in the lobby all day. No gym, no pool, no laundry facilities. This is a “get what you pay for and maybe a story or two” kind of place. Breakfast is simple: coffee, bagels, toast, cereal, fruit. It’s not a brunch buffet, but it’ll keep you alive. Now for the real review: if I had to describe this hotel in one word, it would be entertaining. The people-watching alone was worth the stay. I genuinely left with a few stories that I probably shouldn’t repeat in polite company. The staff deserve their own paragraph. They give strong blue-collar, ride-or-die energy. If you’re respectful, they’ll absolutely have your back. If you’re not? They will correct you swiftly and efficiently. I actually appreciated that they were very active about keeping things in order and addressing any… questionable activity. I got the sense they’ve seen it all. Bottom line: If you’re expecting a five-star resort experience, you will be deeply confused. But if you show up knowing this is a solid 2–3 star hotel and embrace it for what it is, you’ll be just fine, and maybe even entertained. Overall, I’d stay again.

While in the area for a couple of days, we needed reasonable priced accommodation. The location was acceptable, giving centralized access to what we wanted to do. The pricing for the quality of the room was a good balance. The room itself was nice, the bed comfy. Parking was a bit lacking, then add only one Disabled Parking spot. The is various fast food and a few restaurants close. We would return again.

While the hotel may not be the cleanest or the most secure, I was immensely grateful for the room. I was one of the thousands stranded in Seattle this past weekend and had called so many hotels trying to find a single room but they were all booked full. Jessica on the night shift went above and beyond to clean a room for me even though it was only her on the shift - no other housekeepers or front desk staff. She did not have to take that extra step-she could have simply said they were booked - but she did and I am so grateful to her for going above and beyond so I could have a place to stay during the ice storm.

I don't know what all the bad reviews are about... This is my favorite hotel ever! I love the location, the desk guy is cool, and the jacuzzi is the best! Seriously I love the jacuzzis. Maybe there was a little bit of nail polish spilled on the counter, so what, it doesn't just wipe off. Every room I've had has been clean, and any noises are from loud people staying here, not the hotels fault. This place also has an amazing price for what and where it is, so I recommend it to anyone in the area I can when the topic comes up. People are too critical here, this hotel is amazing.

From the very first moment of our arrival, we were greeted by Mr. Tomes with warmth, cheerfulness, and genuine professionalism. His positive energy and welcoming attitude made us feel immediately at home. Mr. Tomes is truly the face of the hotel, embodying its spirit of hospitality and care. Throughout our stay, he provided outstanding service, always attentive and ready to assist with any request. It is rare to meet someone who combines such kindness, enthusiasm, and professionalism in one person. Thanks to his efforts, our experience at the hotel became truly memorable. We would like to sincerely thank Mr. Tomes for his excellent service and for representing the hotel with such dedication. Because of him, we will gladly recommend this hotel to others and look forward to returning in the future.
